A phone made from grass

If you are one of those people who thinks that all phones today look the same, I agree with you. They are simply the same. Without the logo, on the back cover or above the display, you cannot tell who that phone is. You can choose between phones made from plastics, usually cheaper phones, and more expensive, made from aluminum. Well, now you can buy a phone made from ‘’grass’’.

A designer, Sean Miles, created a phone that is completely made natural and recycled materials. The phone casing is made from specially treated grass clippings and recycled resin. The casing is integrated into the phone! This creates a composite material, which can be used instead of plastics. You should know, that carbon fiber, one of the strongest materials on Earth is a composite material.
Mr. Miles was contracted by O2 Recycle, a division of the mobile phone giant, to make this phone as one-off. This should show the importance of recycling. The concept was very successful, so team in the Dream Works are testing this technique to determine, can it be used for mass production.

This could be very important for the environment and for the Dream Works. This phone will be very popular, which will bring profit to the manufacturer, and it will have a positive effect on the environment. In the UK, only 25% of mobile phones is recycled. The main problem with it, is getting used to this new material. It is very different from all others, so it may be rejected from people who don’t want to try new things.
